A Shagreen Furniture Finish As Easy As 1,2,3!

, by Gene Howard, 1 min reading time

We are all heart eyes over here with this finish! Our new Shagreen Mesh Stencil is perfect for adding a gorgeous finish to table tops, furniture, and more. Watch as Amy shows you how easy it is to create this finish!

Step 1: Paint Your Surface

You can choose any color combinations you want but Amy went with...three parts Easy Street, one part Vintage Affliction, one part Brooks Grey.

Step 2: Make A Glaze

Make a glaze using the recipe: 1 part paint, 1 part water, 1 part Glazed Over. Amy used her color she used for her first coat and added a little Black One Step Paint.

Step 3: Apply Your Glaze

Take your glaze and apply it with a sponge brush. Apply in small sections to your piece, you probably don't want to do more than 18" square. While the glaze is still wet - take a lint-free rag and pounce it. Let it dry 20-30 minutes.

Once your finish has dried - it will look like this!

Step 4: Time To Stencil!

Apply your Shagreen Mesh Stencil to your first area. Press it on making sure it's in place. Use your Can't Never Could (Black) Gel Art Ink and your ChalkArt Spreader to push your ink through your stencil. Once you've covered the stencil, remove it and let your ink dry 5-10 minutes. Then move on to your next section!
