If you're looking for the perfect balance of age, warmth, and elegance in your next furniture refinishing project, this stunning antique Jacobean sideboard transformation by Sheri of @brasswalnut is the inspiration you need.
Products Used:
Sheri began the makeover by stripping the original finish using Green EZ Furniture Stripper, scraping away years of grime and buildup. She followed up with power sanding and patching any visible cracks to restore the surface.
For the finish, Sheri created a beautiful paint wash using a custom mix:
-
2/3 water
-
1/6 One Step Paint in Graphite
-
1/6 Gel Stain in English Walnut
The result? A rich, layered finish that’s light—but not too light. Brown—but not too brown. It brings out the antique charm of the sideboard while giving it a refreshed, designer-inspired look.
To seal everything and add a soft sheen, she applied a final coat of Mind Your Own Beeswax, giving the piece both durability and a natural luster.
Whether you're working on a similar heirloom or just love a timeless look, this Jacobean sideboard makeover is a masterclass in subtle transformation.

Love this finish. I never thought of mixing the three finishes together to get a custom finish. Great idea and can’t wait to try.
