How-To Directions: Step-by-Step Instructions

Supplies Needed:

  • Amy Howard at Home Silicone Mold Making Material (Part A + Part B)

  • Measuring cups or a digital scale

  • Mixing stick or spoon

  • Disposable container for mixing

  • Object to mold (clean and dry)

  • Gloves (optional for clean hands)

Step 1: Prep Your Object & Workspace

  • Choose a small item to mold (a knob, appliqué, small figurine, etc.).

  • Make sure your item is dry, clean, and free of dust or oil.

  • Place it inside a non-porous container (a small plastic tub, silicone cup, or cardboard box lined with plastic wrap works well).

Step 2: Mix Silicone – 1:1 Ratio

  • Measure equal parts of Part A and Part B by volume or weight.

  • Pour into your mixing container.

  • Stir slowly and thoroughly for about 2 minutes until the mixture is uniform in color and consistency. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom as you go.

Step 3: Pour the Silicone Over the Object

  • Slowly pour the silicone mixture over your item, starting from one corner and letting it flow naturally to reduce bubbles.

  • Fully cover the item with at least 1/2" of material above the highest point.

Step 4: Let It Cure

  • Let the mold sit undisturbed on a flat surface.

  • Cure time is typically 4–6 hours at room temperature (70°F / 21°C). For best results, let it cure overnight.

Step 5: Demold

  • Gently pull the cured silicone away from the container edges.

  • Flex the mold to release your original object — your mold is now ready to use!

 Cleaning & Care Instructions

  • Clean uncured silicone with baby wipes or rubbing alcohol.

  • Once cured, silicone is waterproof and washable — simply rinse with warm soapy water after each use.

  • Store in a cool, dry place. Do not expose to direct sunlight for long periods.

  • Avoid sharp tools that may puncture your mold.
