If you're a fan of mid-century modern design, you'll love this DIY project inspired by the famous Swiss designer, Willy Guhl.
In this blog, we’ll walk you through the steps to recreate his iconic planter using Amy Howard’s Caproni Plaster and Milk Paint.
Start with a basic clay pot, and cut a piece of the Caproni Plaster Wrap to fit around the pot. Use a synthetic brush to apply water, ensuring the wrap adheres properly.
Once the plaster is wet, smooth it with your gloved hands, pressing down to eliminate seams and folds. The wrap will act as a base coat and texture for the final design.
Mix Cala Green Milk Paint to a thin consistency and apply it with a chip brush. Allow it to absorb and blend naturally for a soft, aged look.
After the first coat dries, layer a mix of Venetian Green Milk Paint and a touch of Noir Milk Paint for a vintage, weathered finish.
For an authentic, aged look, gently rub fresh grass or moss onto the surface. This will transfer subtle green stains, mimicking the natural patina of aged garden pieces.
This project is perfect for creating high-end, mid-century-inspired decor on a budget. It’s ideal for adding unique character to your indoor or outdoor spaces.
Happy crafting!
