Cracked Patina recreates the warmth and charm that history lends to wooden furniture and the decorative accents that make a house a home. Achieve a lovely cracked finish that once took layers of paint and years and years to develop.
~section 2~
“We affectionately call Cracked Patina the ‘cream inside the Oreo.’ Just as plain chocolate wafers were made iconic by what’s sandwiched between them, Cracked Patina will elevate your vintage restorations into true works of art.”
There’s a certain kind of beauty in the rough edges that antiques develop from years of hands lovingly placing plates upon a table’s surface, or a mother’s hip closing a dresser drawer as she holds her sleeping baby night after night. When you pair Cracked Patina with One Step Paint you get full control over details like these as you refinish your favorite pieces.
Use Cracked Patina to add depth and character!
It no longer takes years to develop the perfect amount of texture and age for your furniture. With Cracked Patina, you can create a perfectly unique pulled finish on any piece. Simply choose the One Step Paint colors you wish to layer and pair them with Cracked Patina for a beautiful weathered look.
Amy's Tip: Get inspiration for aging furniture from the world around you. I love taking notice of weathered shutters, the layers of paint found on scrap wood, and so much more.
For best results, pair Cracked Patina with Rescue Restore Paint.

This frame was a very shiny gold frame that did not coordinate with my decor.
I base coated with One Step Bauhaus Buff,
followed by cracked gesso and then a custom blue milk paint. Once dry, I antiqued it with the Antiquing Glaze showing the gesso layer underneath.
The last step was applying a light coat of
Mind Your Own Beeswax and no buffing.
There is nothing that gives that old world finished like Cracked Patina. I’ve tried to create my own and it just doesn’t work. When I run out of this Amy Howard product I rush to order more!
Painting a shutter for a craft project and wanted it to pop. Used a light base coat, Crack Patina and black top coat. Could not be happier. Looks Fantastic. So easy to use!!
This is the coolest product!! I can’t wait to use it on more items. So easy to use and if you watch the videos that Amy and her team make you are sure to succeed!
First time using the cracked patina. It is a winner. Very simple to use. After watching Amy Howard’s video on how to use it, I went to work on some accessories. I will be using this more!
I cannot say enough about this stuff! If you love old work looks. That vintage farmhouse look. This cracked patina is a game changer! Highly recommend 👍🏼👍🏼
I have used Cracked Patina so much! This piece was a reproduction which was enhanced with the use of Cracked Patina. Adding an old world feel, without having to wait years to happen!
Cracked patina works great. We completely sanded down this ornate piece, my client was going for a coastal look. I stained the wood. Mixed the cracked patina with a bit of water which makes it go farther. Let dry. Painted Luxe gray a section at a time and did my pull off. It does not take but a minute for the one step to start drying. I’m going to add a brown one step to the doors once the homeowner gets chairs reupholstered to add a little more zing to it. But easy to use and looks great.
I used the cracked patina for the first time on the pictured portion of a custom headboard and am an absolute believer in this and all Amy Howard products. It performs better than expected and created the exact effect I was hoping to achieve.
Cracked Patina is so versatile! And when you want an authentic chippy look it's simply the best!
This is sample of a new technique Amy showed us on a Finish Finish using Cracked Patina.
I absolutely love the affect of the Cracked Patina. This was my first time using it and I couldn't be happier with the way this piece turned out. I get so many compliments on it.
First time using this & I LOVE IT! So easy to use & do. Next time I’m going to pull it more, actually forgot you could do that with the stool I did, but like the farm house crackled look that this has done all by itself. Stool looks like it came out of a barn find! So glad I found Amy Howard!
I used the One Step paint on this tin tile along with the Cracked Patina. I then used the dark and clear wax to finish it off. It turned out just how I envisioned. Watching Amy’s videos are very helpful in learning how to use her different products.
