To ensure every layer of this finish adheres properly, thoroughly clean the piece with Clean Slate to remove dirt, wax, grease, and residue. Allow the surface to dry completely.

To begin building this finish's aged texture, mix Cracked Gesso with water at a 1:1 ratio the day before use. Allow the mixture to sit overnight so it can properly develop.

Using a soft brush, apply a thin coat of the prepared Cracked Gesso over the surface. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

To deepen the timeworn texture, apply a second coat of Cracked Gesso, using a mop brush and/or sea wool sponge to gently pounce the product onto the surface for an irregular, aged effect. Allow it to dry completely.

Several hours before painting, mix Central Park Milk Paint with water at a 1:1 ratio and allow it time to develop.

Using a soft brush, apply Central Park Milk Paint over the textured surface and allow it to dry completely. Add a second coat only where additional coverage is needed, keeping the application intentionally subtle and varied rather than perfectly uniform.

Once the milk paint is completely dry, use a clean, soft, dry brush to gently remove any loose or naturally cracked paint.

To selectively expose the warm wood beneath, pour Antiquing Glaze into one bowl and clean water into another. Dampen a sea wool sponge with water and wring out the excess, then work in small sections, making quick passes with the Antiquing Glaze in varied directions.

Use the damp sponge and Antiquing Glaze selectively along edges, corners, moldings, and other areas where an old piece would naturally show wear. Allow glimpses of the original warm stain to remain visible rather than creating even coverage. Let the piece dry completely.

Use Kembel One Step Paint on the trim to define the architectural details while maintaining the muted, aged palette.

The top is created using wallpaper as an additional decorative layer, then painted so it becomes part of the overall finish rather than appearing like newly applied paper. After applying the wallpaper, layer Kembel One Step Paint, Scandinavian Grey Milk Paint, and Central Park Milk Paint over the surface. Build the colors subtly so portions of the wallpaper pattern remain visible beneath the painted finish. The variation between the three colors helps soften the pattern and gives the top the appearance of an aged decorative surface that has evolved with the piece over time.

The shelf is intentionally left unpainted to preserve some of the original wood and provide a warm contrast to the faded blue-green painted finish. Clean the shelf thoroughly with Clean Slate and allow it to dry completely, then finish the original wood with Light Wax to enhance its natural warmth while protecting the surface. Leaving this area unpainted is an intentional part of the design and helps connect the exposed wood throughout the aged finish.

Using a soft brush, apply Matte Sealer over the appropriate painted surfaces and allow it to dry.

Apply Light Wax over the completed finish and allow it to come to tack.

Apply Dark Wax selectively in recesses, moldings, corners, and other areas where age and patina would naturally collect.

Once the wax has come to tack, apply Dust of Ages and allow it to settle into the cracks, creases, and architectural details. Lightly work it into the surface and remove the excess with a clean, lint-free cloth.
