I can see it’s purpose and be benefits, but on my particular piece it added quite a bit of time. I thoroughly enjoyed the results, but the time needed might hinder its use in other pieces (for me, at least).
Had so much fun and love how my old antique mirror turned out.
It didn't crack. Tried it on practice boards several times. I have read reviews that many people have never gotten to crack. A good friend of mine, experienced painter said the same. So that is very disappointing. I will use it for a layer I guess.
I am achieving the “Old World” finish that I love and is most profitable for my business. However, I am still struggling to get the “CrackedGesso” to Crack.
I tell all my friends that this is the only pain product line I use! I love it and hope to go professional someday it’s so easy to use and just so fun to make creations so different all the time:) It never peels, sealants and wax are as advertised, colors are gorgeous and the thing is you can’t make a mistake, you can always paint again. I do love using Amy Howard at Home products thanks for the beautiful paint patina. My fav coupled with milk paints:)

The cracked gesso is perfect for getting that hint of white showing through and a touch of texture beneath a milk painted surface that is worn. Adds a touch of old world charm and patina all in one product when used in combination with the Toscana Milk Paint line and Antiquing Glaze. Easy to mix, apply, and distress as desired.
While these boards are Amys finish using Venetian plaster I was so thrilled with my results on poplar, I had to share these beautiful boards. I have painted 1 cabinet door using cracked gesso and had pretty good results. I purchased an old entertainment center yesterday for $220 at my local thrift store. I plan to finish with gesso and milk paint after I practice on some boards. Amy’s products are all exceptional. Still having fun practicing

I used two thin layers of cracked gesso on this dresser / chest of drawers to get this old world chippy finish. It helps to give it the natural aged look as you might see after years of travels and layers of paint. You’ll love it!

Where to begin to rave about Amy Howard. First off, I love Amy's tutorials, her wonderful kind personality, her incredible expertise, and her coolest inventions (techniques) on earth. I have a background in restoring furniture, but nothing comes even close to what I can achieve with Amy's products now. I am not only truly sold, I am a huge fan who will conitnue antiquing with a great passion. Must apologize about the messy photo. Was not intended for publication but here it goes. This is my first object with the new technique (the inner part of the desk was glaced; the outer part on the right not yet). I am soooo thrilled with the results (and it's not even waxed yet!). My desk is going to look gorgeous! I will say that I my desk was lacquered and I figured out a way to make the LACQUERED wood shine through: I used one step paint, but just left some wood unpainted. As I was glacing, the wood returns and it looks as natural as if I had stained the piece :) Cracked gesso is genius! 5 stars!!

This is Truly Genius! Nothing compares... I am taking the Old World Finishing Course and I am so glad I did. Now after seeing first hand my projects final results without Cracked Gesso and with my finishes have gone up to a whole new level. The authenticity of the texture and cracking looks like it is over 100yrs old. It gives it so much depth that I could never do using my old distressing methods. And it is so easy to work with!
