About One Step Paint

One Step Paint is our premium, water-based chalk-style furniture paint that transforms furniture, fabric, and everything in between. No stripping, no sanding, no priming. It dries to a soft, chalky matte finish that's perfect for vintage, distressed, layered, and Old World looks. While decorative pieces don't require sealing, we recommend adding a wax or sealer on high-use items like dining tables, chairs, and cabinets to protect against everyday wear.

Customer photo review of One Step Paint - Brooks Grey

Hello everyone, this is an old chest of drawers my dad had in his spare bedroom. Just an old wooden one nothing special about it. I use it in a spare room in my house for what ever. I left the top the natural wood look after sanding it. I got to say, I love how nicely the paint went on so smooth just using a water base paint brush and a 4" foam roller on the sides two coats. My wife is hard to please, but she loves the color only she wants me to get another different set of knobs. I admit I did go cheap on the knobs being it's such an old piece, but after seeing how nice it turned out I agree with another upgrade on the knobs. Kevin Color: Brooks Grey

Store owner replied: Kevin, you did an awesome job my friend!!

Wow, this color is gorgeous! It dries a deep green/teal and I think it might be my favorite color (ever and in this paint brand!). I painted my free little library with it and now trying to think of what else I can paint with it- I am thinking my bathroom cabinets! Beautiful and smells-good! :)

I used my grandmothers old buffet from the 50's. I primed it with Clean Slate, used two Coats of Brooks Grey and then one coat of the beeswax. I was shocked how powerful the beeswax smelled! But it leaves a beautiful sheen. I learned a lot on my first one! Next time I would definitely use a 4" roller on the top part of the furniture. It would have been smoother. Although the paint does dry to hide the streaks. I was going to replace my pulls but they just don't make that size anymore- and that was a blessing because I polished them with Brasso (!) and they were golden and beautiful. I have already referred this paint to many friends. :) I was super happy with the paint and the process!

I thought the color would of been more grey but I loved it anyways. Water it done and it covers beautifully.

I LOVE Amy Howard paints! They go on smooth(I paint with oils on canvas so I have a little painting experience). I used the black that Amy Howard makes in our gameroom on one wall (very smooth application on walls too!) that’s a backdrop with white shelves. As far as brooks grey you can see in this photo next to the window it looks more blue green but the color of the hutch on the bottom left of the photo is actually the True Tone and color you’ll see in person. It’s a beautiful rich almost hunter green with that hint of blue. Goes well with browns and coppers. Absolutely beautiful! Everyone who comes over compliments the color.

I painted my bathroom vanity and another cabinet in the bathroom with this color and absolutely love it. It was such an easy process!! Can't wait for my next project!!

Love the color and I love that it dries so fast. You do have to be quite quick and be sure to light spray your surface with some water to help it go on well and reduce its thickness.

I have not used these colors yet, but I have to say they are gorgeous!! And the liming wax is going to be perfect for what I need. The packaging for these products was beyond exceptional. There is no way those cans could have been damaged. I really, really appreciate it when companies take the time and effort to put in the extra bit of effort to make sure things are done right. Amy Howard does not let me down on anything. I am just a beginner, but Amy Howard at Home is going to be my go-to provider.

The richness of the color is always a pleasant surprise. I’ve used the One Step Paint in black, atelier gray, lady sings the blues, and this beautiful green. It has a forest green/teal vibe. I finished it with the beeswax. It feels amazing and smooth. It will be my son’s desk for virtual learning this fall.
